Community Action Plan

Our roadmap for strengthening social connection, belonging, and civic participation throughout Pleasanton.

Pleasanton Connects launched in the Summer of 2025 with a listening tour and community-wide survey. We wanted to understand where people feel connected, where gaps exist, and what it would take to build stronger relationships across the city.

From January to June 2026, Pleasanton Connects' Ambassadors worked together to analyze the findings, study promising community connection programs across the country, and develop a Community Action Plan, a roadmap for building a more connected, resilient, and collaborative Pleasanton.

Our Plan

City-Wide Connection

Goal: Increase opportunities for cross-group and city-wide connection; foster a shared, local identity

The Longest Table – a shared meal for residents from all across Pleasanton

Multicultural Festival – a festival celebrating Pleasanton's many cultures through food, storytelling, and interactive experiences

Farmers Market "Living Room" – pop-up settings at the Farmers' Market where residents can drop in and connect with neighbors

Community Commons Calendar – an online, city-wide platform helping residents discover events, volunteer opportunities, and ways to get involved

Systems Input – develop leadership and service pathways; create recommendations for cross-sector coordination; submit a proposal elevating connection as a consideration in design, planning, and development of public spaces

Block & Neighborhood Connection

Goal: Increase connection between neighbors at the neighborhood and block level

Block Connector Program – volunteer neighbors are trained to build relationships, welcome newcomers, coordinate block-relevant info, and promote gatherings

Welcome Kits – packets of local info/resources to help new residents connect earlier

Good Neighbor Day (September 2026) – a city-wide day of simultaneous, low-barrier neighborhood gatherings in parks and public spaces

Narrative & Culture

Goal: To build a culture of connection throughout Pleasanton

Connection Campaign – social media content sharing stories, tools, and experiences that make connection a visible and valued part of everyday life

Connecting Question – a shared conversation starter woven across events and spaces
